Solange released her new album- A Seat at the Table, on the 30th of September this year. If we had to describe the album in one word it would be, “Solange-y.”
You’d understand what we mean if you follow her Instagram page and recognise her flare for calm, ethereal, distinctive, intentional and individual art (maybe we’ve overanalysed her Instagram, but something tells us that we got it right).
The song, “Don’t Touch My Hair” is one of our favourites and it features Solange’s calm voice and different music influences.
The song’s meaning is open to interpretation, but we love how the singer’s hairstylist, Nikki Nelms, defined it in an article for The Cut (NYMag). She mentioned that the song is about, “the preservation of [self].”
Check out the music video below, go with the vibe, follow the words and enjoy the song!
